Rent shouldn’t be a guessing game
FairRent shows what homes across Bangalore actually rent for, so you walk into every negotiation knowing the number.
Why this exists
Ask three people in the same society what they pay and you’ll hear three numbers. Ask a broker and you’ll hear a fourth, often depending on how new to the city you look. Landlords quote from listings, listings copy each other, and the rent people really pay stays hidden.
FairRent flips that. For every area and home size we publish the typical rent and the usual range, so “₹45,000 for a 2BHK” stops being an opinion and becomes something you can check in ten seconds.

What we do, and what we don’t
- We do publish typical rents by area, size and society, check any quote you’re given, and help you pick an area that suits your commute and lifestyle.
- We don’t list flats, sell your details to brokers, take money to promote an area or society, or ask you to sign up.
How the numbers are made
- Source: rents reported by tenants, collected across Bangalore. Rents added on FairRent are checked before they count.
- The median, not the average: half of homes rent for less, half for more, so one unusual flat can’t drag the number around.
- Five reports or nothing: a size, area or society only gets a number once there are at least 5 reports.
- Cleaned: duplicates are removed, and rents below ₹5,000 or above ₹3,00,000 are treated as likely errors.
- Fresh: the published numbers refresh every day. The Bangalore Rent Index captures them each month.
Your privacy
- No account, no login, no phone number.
- Email is optional when you add a rent, and it is never shown or shared.
- We never publish an individual rent, only medians from 5 or more.
- Raw reports never leave our database; the site only ever sees the published summaries.
- We use Google Analytics to understand which pages help people. It doesn’t identify you.
Help make it better
Every rent added makes the numbers sharper for the next person, especially for societies and areas we don’t cover yet. It takes 30 seconds and it’s anonymous.
